At the very end of this year’s visit to Japan, we had the privilege of attending an event organised by the legendary SM production company Dogma: SM Night 2024, thanks to Manami Okazaki, who made contact and got us press tickets.
The event takes place twice a year and is meant as a photo event. It was the second big Kinbaku event we saw in Japan, after “You are the Legend” in DX Theater (R.I.P.) back in 2019.
So, on our last day in Tokyo, we went once again to Shinjuku, once again to a small side street, and once again down steep staircase into a basement.
A friendly welcome
We got a very friendly welcome! Tessin Doyama, one of the riggers in the show, even said: “Guten Tag”. And that’s one of the first things we noticed: the atmosphere was very casual and friendly.
The audience was very homogeneous: men over 50. Older people are more psychologically developed, the director of the company Tohjiro told us, their level of understanding is more mature, they recognize and appreciate when the girl actually likes it…
As I first saw kinbaku events , it was the same, but we all were 20 years younger. Many of the OGs complain now that it’s the same guys, the professionals and the audience as well. But now they are just old.
Manami Okazaki
Beside the models, Natasha and Manami were practically the only females in the room.
Do we get it wrong in Europe?
The casual feeling stayed. The organization was very professional! There was a moderator, there was an opening video (very hot!), everything started and ended on time. But it all felt more like a friendly gathering than a formal “show”.
It was hot and fun and interesting and very model-focused and we loved it!
One thing that felt different to what we are used to in the West, was how humorous the atmosphere was. There were candles, whips, (and YES, rope), endurance and real tears and orgasms, but no pathos. It was with a smile and a joke and the audience laughed a lot. Having said that: it was much more hardcore, and much more dirty than we are used to in Europe. Only penetration was not allowed. Also Japan suffers from censorship and conservative laws.
Second, and perhaps most importantly, the models were the center of attention! It was THEIR show! It was the event for their fans to meet them, to take pictures of them, to admire them. There were 8 models in the line-up – all very different characters (the “Little Girl”, the “Princess”, the “Bunny”…), with different roles, outfits, and their very own, individual expressions in ropes.
They all had time to introduce themselves in a short interview. In the shows later each of them was beautifully presented and then tastefully destroyed. The audience cheered and enjoyed every minute of it.
A model centered Kinbaku event it was!
How different “Shibari” is presented in the West. On the posters, it is the rigger’s name that is printed in big letters, and then, in smaller letters, the name of the model – if at all…
Of course, there were riggers: Tessin Doyama and Yagami Ren – and yes, they stayed in the shadow. They served the purpose of the show: exposing the models, presenting them to the audience. It was not about how fancy their rope was – not even about their “style”. On Sunday, Naka Akira joined the riggers team. We missed the second day, unfortunately. From the pictures we saw, the rope changed – but not the focus on the real stars of the evening. As always – a fatal mistake to book a return flight from Tokyo…
All light – and lenses – on the girls. There were 8 of them, each playing a different archetype. They were the ones, who made the 6 hours interesting. We loved every show!!!
Chapter one:
The opening star, Sengoku Monaka in flowery kimono was incomparable in her cuteness and endured a lot of flogging and wax play performed by Ren Yagami. If we understood correctly, it was her first SM Night, so she is relatively new, but very natural and confident on stage!

Chapter two:
The second on stage was Hiizumi Maika in black lingerie dress. She was shy to speak but so adorable and graceful in ropes and endured hot wax play done by Tessin Doyama.

Chapter three:
Shiokawa Uni was third on stage and melting in the ropes of Ren Yagami and melting our hearts all together – her lips are a perfection and her cuteness is irresistible!

Chapter four:
The fourth one – Yura Kana was a real player! Super convincing in her role – the little girl – seductively offering her dessert and flirting with the audience, she won our hearts at once! Her show was also with Ren Yagami and it became all wet on stage very soon.

Chapter five:
The next was Ayaka Moon – and she absolutely owned the stage! Dressed as a bunny, a real seductress, she endured beautfiully a hot wax play done by Tessin Doyama. So hot it was!

Chapter six:
Next on stage appeared Haruki Kaname – in a simple outfit, she endured an intense whipping session with Ren Yagami. It was mind blowing. And she still could hold the microphone afterwards and show off her marks!

Chapter seven:
Next we were excited to welcome Nana Maeno on stage – in a simple white dress, she suffered beautifully from the candles and the whip of Tessin Doyama – to the great pleasure of the audience.

Chapter eight:
The star of the show, Aya Shiomi, was the last on stage. Her rigger was Ren Yagami and they made a sensational show. Aya has a very rare gift to share her erotisism with the audience. Not only she truly enjoys the impact of the ropes and the whip, but she generously shares her joy and pleasure with us. And her smile – so warm and natural – highlightes the whole room.

The interview
With the kind help of Manami Okazaki we could talk with the director Tohjiro and the star of the show Aya Shiomi and ask them a few questions about how the SM industry feels today and struggles of censorship and the society becoming more and more conservative.
We learned that they just visited Germany at the end of last year presenting their recent movie “Shura – Sisters of the Rope” at the Oldenburg Film Festival. Although the regular festival, the director loved the movie and invited them to the festival. The general public wasn’t as open minded – many people left the audience after 5 min into the movie. Aya also shocked the public by sharing on stage that she doesn’t care about acting, she just likes SM 🙂
The most important thing in this industry is the star.
Tohjiro
It’s rare to find a girl who is actually into SM. Tohjiro says the reason he is still doing it is because there are girls like that.
More from the interview: one day in our magazine. Enjoy the suspense 🙂
